November 7 – 19 2017, Barcelona, Spain
With the Digital Dance Arcade I proposed an immersive dance playground with game-inspired imagery and a selection of dance videogames that exposes the history of this genre and beyond. It is a curated dance experience that uses the format of the public gaming arcade and video games as a medium for live performance – with the public as the dancers.
Games curated in the exhibition:
Dance Central (Harmonix)
B-boy (FreeStyle Games)
Floor Kids (MERJ Media)
Bounden (Game Oven Studio)
Dance Dance Revolution (Konami)
Crypt of the Necrodancer (Brace Yourself Games)
Just Dance (Ubisoft)
Joust (Die Gute Fabrik)
Pixel Dance (JoDee Allen)
Choreoscope + Arts Santa Monica,
With immeasurable thanks to Lorand Janos and his team from Choreoscope for making this exhibition possible.
I also acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, which last year invested $153 million to bring the arts to Canadians throughout the country.
